Over the last few months, Ceyenne Doroshow and her organization GLITS, Inc. (@glits_inc) have been providing temporary housing to Black trans people recently released from Rikers Island. GLITS has been presented with the opportunity to both SIGN two leases to provide housing for the upcoming year + BUY two buildings to create a PERMANENT place to house and support Black trans people in NYC. These properties will allow Black trans people to focus on other long term goals like education and mental health, and provide housing and support to community members for years to come.
We believe in the livelihood of Black trans people and the importance of thriving, not just surviving!
Through the generosity of folks in its networks, GLITS has surpassed its fundraising goal of $1,000,000 to make this housing initiative a reality. There is always more work to be done, which is why we're hoping to raise additional funds to augment Ceyenne's efforts in securing Black trans futures. We encourage you to donate via our link below. Remember, no contribution is too small!
This effort is LED by Black trans folk giving back to their community and prioritizing the safety of Black trans women. please share with fervor to your networks near and far.
With Love and Solidarity,
💕💙 André & Evan Lenox-Samour
